To attain the Certificate II in Retail 12 units must be successfully completed comprising of 7 core and 5 elective units
This qualification provides a pathway to work in a diverse range of retail settings including specialty retailers, supermarkets, department stores and quick service restaurants. There is also a pathway into the SIR30212 Certificate III in Retail Operations.
There are no entry requirements for this qualification. Individuals may undertake this qualification with little or no experience in the industry.
It is preferred that the students have obtained a minimum of a year 10 level School Certificate or equivalent and the will be required to undertake a LLN and achieve an exit Level 2 or above score within the Australian Core Skills Framework assessments in Reading and Numeracy, which will show that they have the capability to be successful in the course.

Students not meeting these requirements will be directed to more suitable qualifications or skill development programs.

To be assessed as competent in this qualification, students are required to undertake 2 weeks (10 Days or 70 hours) (or the equivalent part time) placement.

Funding for this qualification may be available through the Queensland Certificate 3 Guarantee, a subsidised training program offered by the QLD Government.
